How we work with consumers
BCNA’s Lived Experience Reference Groups are key consumer engagement mechanisms to help us progress opportunities for priority communities within our network. These communities are identified as having distinct and often unmet needs.
The group’s purpose is to use lived experience to help inform BCNA’s policy, advocacy, and service development priorities. It is important to note that these groups are not peer support groups.
Currently BCNA operates three Lived Experience Reference Groups:
Members of our Lived Experience Reference Groups are not trained Consumer Representatives, although many of our Consumer Representatives are also members of one or more groups.
There are no pre-requirements for becoming a member of a group, however each group has its own Terms of Reference that members must understand and adhere to.
