As Channel 9 commemorates the 30th anniversary of the iconic Footy Show with a two-part special, Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) takes this opportunity to honour AFL legend and BCNA Ambassador Shane Crawford for his unwavering commitment to the breast cancer community.
Shane Crawford, affectionately known as "Crawf," has been an integral part of BCNA's mission to support Australians affected by breast cancer. His extraordinary fundraising efforts have not only raised significant funds but have also inspired a nation.
In 2010, Shane embarked on an incredible journey, walking from Adelaide to Melbourne, covering over 780 kilometres, and raising an astounding $620,000 for BCNA. This was followed by his even more challenging feat in 2013, when he cycled 3,600 kilometres from Melbourne to Perth in just 22 days, raising over $1.3 million. These achievements, revisited during the 30 Years of The Footy Show special, left a lasting impact on the nation and BCNA.
"Shane Crawford's dedication and determination have been nothing short of inspiring," said Kirsten Pilatti, CEO of BCNA. "His efforts have not only raised much-needed funds but also brought hope and awareness to countless Australians affected by breast cancer. We are incredibly grateful for Shane’s ongoing support and his unwavering commitment to our cause."
The two-part 30 Years of The Footy Show special airs on August 20 and August 27, featuring unforgettable moments from Shane Crawford’s fundraising endeavours.
BCNA invites the public to join in celebrating Shane's contributions by tuning in and sharing their messages of thanks and support.
