For a decade now, Red Energy has turned pink for BCNA. So, what’s the secret to this colourful and thriving charity partnership?
On April 15 2025, BCNA and Red Energy celebrate an incredible 10 years of partnership and over $2.3 million contributed through Red Energy’s BCNA Saver Plan. The milestone is cause to reflect on the incredible impact the partnership has made across the past decade, and what it means not only to those diagnosed, but the teams of both BCNA and Red Energy.
Since 2015, Red Energy has helped contribute funds to support the 58 Australians diagnosed with breast cancer each day – from being a Major Partner of Pink Lady Match and Field of Women to the Pink Sports Day program, which galvanises communities across Australia to raise funds for BCNA.
It’s been incredibly rewarding to be able to support Australian families who are navigating the uncertainty of a cancer diagnosis through our Red BCNA Saver Plan and events such as the Field of Women.
It's that spirit that binds BCNA and Red Energy, who share a mutual commitment to their communities.
Iain Graham, Red Energy CEO, said: “We’ve been a proud partner of Breast Cancer Network Australia for 10 years now. We see the communities we power as an extension of us, and we take pride in doing our bit.
"It’s been incredibly rewarding to be able to support Australian families who are navigating the uncertainty of a cancer diagnosis through our Red BCNA Saver Plan and events such as the Field of Women.”
This partnership is very special to our people and any time there is a Pink Fun Bun day, a BCAM event, or a Carman’s Fun Run, our people are quick to show their support and get involved.
“For me, I will never forget the emotion of walking onto the Field of Women for the first time. It is an experience that will stay with me for the rest of my life and I look forward to Red Energy supporting BCNA for years to come.”
The Red Energy office – once the iconic Bryant & May match factory – proudly displays its affiliation with BCNA. From the neon Pink Lady silhouettes in its front window to the expansive Pink Wall inside, which celebrates everything the collaboration achieves together.
“The wall came about a few years ago because we felt we had this amazing story to celebrate and we wanted to shout it from the rooftops,” says Nadia Olliver, Red Energy’s Marketing Communications Manager.
“This partnership is very special to our people and any time there is a Pink Fun Bun day, a Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) event, or a Carman’s Fun Run, our people are quick to show their support and get involved.”
Like most workplaces, Red Energy has people with their own personal breast cancer experiences.
“The team at Red and our customers really get behind BCNA and spread the word,” says Nadia. “Breast cancer is something that is very personal for so many of us, whether you have lived experience, have someone close to you who has been diagnosed or impacted, or you know someone in your community – everybody has a connection somewhere.”
For Carman’s Fun Run 2025, Red Energy had a team of 60 sign up, with many participating in honour of their team member Mandy, who is currently living with breast cancer.
“Breast cancer is a very isolating illness and to know you care that much means the world to me,” Mandy told the Red Energy runners.
“It lets me know that – even though I can’t be in the office with you guys – I’m still a big part of this team.”
Red Energy’s unwavering support over the last 10 years gives BCNA the power to keep striving for a better healthcare system...
Not only supporting events, Red Energy’s belief in BCNA’s cause manifested itself in the development of a new product where Red donates up to $120 per year for every customer for as long as they are signed up on the Red BCNA Saver Plan*.
“Our partnership enables us to contribute, support and collaborate with BCNA on what is a very personal cause to many Australians,” says David Holman, General Manager Business Development - Red Energy.
“With the support of our customers, our goal to contribute over $1 million each year for BCNA through the Red BCNA Saver Plan is now a reality.”
With over 24,000 customers currently signed up to the Red BCNA Saver Plan, Red Energy is actively supporting BCNA to improve its resources and increase support for more than 21,000 women and men diagnosed with breast cancer every year, alongside the additional 15,000+ Australians estimated to be living with metastatic disease.
Red Energy’s sales team report that when they speak to people, many signing up to the BCNA Saver Plan say it’s a “no brainer”.
“As a young survivor of breast cancer, diagnosed at 39 and going through treatment during the pandemic, I'm grateful to the BCNA for supporting women like me,” says one customer.
“I will always choose to support BCNA, and combining my support while also paying my Red Energy bill is a great option.”
BCNA CEO Kirsten Pilatti says it’s strong and enduring partnerships like that with Red Energy that allow BCNA to achieve real and lasting impact. While the achievements since the partnership began have been incredible, she notes there’s great work left to be done.
“It is clear that breast cancer is not done yet and neither are we,” she says. “Red Energy’s unwavering support over the last 10 years, gives BCNA the power to keep striving for a better healthcare system, so that for all Australians affected by breast cancer have access to the very best information, treatment, and support.”
Red Energy CEO, Iain Graham says “It’s also been a privilege to watch the team go about their business. That an organisation can be both strategic and incredibly selfless and generous at the same time. A wonderful case study for how any business should operate.”
